Just before 2 a.m. CST, a gunman opened fire outside Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden on West Sixth Street, killing two people and wounding 14 others. The suspect, identified by authorities as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne — a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Senegal — was shot and killed by responding Austin police officers at the scene.
