AMPANG, 29 May 2025 – A total of 22 lecturers and teachers from Uzbekistan participated in an intensive professional training programme organised by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), which was held over two weeks from 15 to 29 May at Hotel Grand Barakah, Ampang, Selangor.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia, His Excellency Dr. Karomidin Gadoev, expressed appreciation for UPSI’s commitment in organising a high-impact training programme for Uzbekistani educators.
According to him, the programme focused on enhancing pedagogical competencies through innovative teaching approaches, effective assessment strategies, and the integration of digital technology in classrooms, aligning with the demands of today’s global education landscape.

“I am confident that the knowledge and skills acquired through this programme can be directly applied in their respective institutions, particularly in improving the effectiveness of the Teaching and Learning (T&L) process and achieving more systematic academic management.
“This programme also reflects the strong spirit of cooperation between Malaysia and Uzbekistan in the field of higher education. It creates strategic opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices among educators of both nations.”
He made these remarks while officiating the closing ceremony of the International Professional Development Training for Uzbekistan Teachers 2025, organised by UPSI’s International, Mobility and Advanced Centre (IMAC), recently.

“May this bilateral relationship be further strengthened through the organisation of joint academic programmes, collaborative research, as well as faculty and student exchange initiatives in the future,” he added.
Meanwhile, UPSI Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Md Amin Md Taff, stated that UPSI remains committed to being a leader in building global educational networks, particularly with Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan.
“This professional training programme is a manifestation of UPSI’s dedication to advancing the international education agenda, while strengthening the capacity of foreign educators through a structured and practical training approach.”
He added that UPSI will continue to play an active role in supporting the development of regional and international education to lead educational excellence in Malaysia and champion global academic distinction

“This collaboration is also the result of strategic meetings and discussions held during the Malaysia–Uzbekistan Higher Education Forum on 4 February, where UPSI was entrusted to lead the training initiative in the field of education,” he said.
In the meantime, two participant representatives, Dr. Sulaymanova Nilufar Jabbarovna from the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and Dr. Abdullayeva Ulfatoy Turakhonovna from the Tashkent State Agrarian University, also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to join the programme.
According to them, throughout the training period, participants were exposed to current approaches such as the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), the use of digital technology in T&L, as well as relevant communication skills suited for a global teaching context.
The training included interactive sessions conducted by UPSI lecturers, group discussions, and self-assessments. Participants were also taken on visits to Putrajaya and Port Dickson as part of the cross-cultural component that enriched their experience in Malaysia.
This professional training programme not only strengthened academic ties between UPSI and educational institutions in Uzbekistan, but also served as a platform for mutual exchange of knowledge, culture, and experience benefiting both parties.
Also present were UPSI Director of Academic and International Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Ridzwan Che Rus; IMAC UPSI Director, Professor Dr. Ramlee Ismail; IMAC Deputy Director I, Dr. Nor Fadila Kasim; and IMAC Deputy Director II, Dr. Siti Nor Amalina Ahmad Tajuddin.
