OSAKA, Japan, June 12, 2025 — Malaysia’s beloved animated twins, Upin & Ipin, are stealing hearts at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, as they showcase the nation’s culture, creativity, and sustainable industries.
The iconic characters, created by Malaysia’s Les’ Copaque Production, arrived at the Malaysia Pavilion on June 8 and will delight visitors through June 16. Their visit, supported by the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) and the Malaysia Palm Oil Council (MPOC), aims to promote Malaysia’s rich heritage and sustainable palm oil sector on a global stage.
At the Pavilion, Upin & Ipin are engaging fans with meet-and-greet sessions, photo opportunities, and special event appearances, drawing families and animation enthusiasts worldwide. The twins, stars of a long-running series celebrating Malaysian values and multicultural harmony, are proving to be perfect ambassadors for the country’s cultural diplomacy.

The Malaysia Pavilion, designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, spans 2,654.52 square meters and reflects the nation’s weaving traditions and songket patterns. Themed “Weaving a Future in Harmony,” it emphasizes Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability, diversity, and innovation across three narrative pillars: Human and Human, Human and Technology, and Human and Nature.
Over 26 weeks, the Pavilion will host business weeks with 21 ministries, 70 agencies, and 10 state governments, featuring talks, product launches, and business matching sessions. Led by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the Pavilion positions Malaysia as a dynamic global partner.
