KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA January 14, 2026 – UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has stressed that the party must dominate the digital political landscape and new-era communication to ensure UMNO remains relevant and continues to earn the trust of the people.
In a post on platform X, Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, described the 2026 Digital Politics Symposium as a meaningful platform for discussion on how UMNO needs to adapt to rapid changes in digital politics.
“This symposium opens up meaningful discussion space on how UMNO must master the shifting landscape of digital politics and communication in a new era grounded in knowledge, values, and understanding of the people,” he wrote.
He further emphasised that the symposium serves as a forum to shape people’s political power through digital spaces in the coming decade.
“Public trust today is no longer born solely from the stage, but from the screens in their hands—and UMNO must be present there with strong arguments, accurate data, and unwavering values,” Zahid added.
He said UMNO needs to fully leverage digital platforms to gain the people’s trust and ensure the party remains relevant.
UMNO’s move to strengthen its digital approach is seen as a strategic effort by the party to address modern political challenges, particularly in attracting support from the younger generation that is more active online.
