KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA February 21, 2026 – Police have acted swiftly following the circulation of a 20-second viral video on social media that captured dangerous and reckless driving in the heart of the capital.
According to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) through the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), the black Toyota Vios shown in the footage was seen weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating vehicles ahead, and making sudden lane changes without signalling — actions that posed a serious risk to other road users.
A team from the JSPT Bukit Aman Intelligence/Operations Unit immediately launched an intelligence operation and successfully detained two local men to assist in the investigation. The vehicle involved was also seized and towed to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station for further inspection and action.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
In a statement, police stressed that stern action will be taken against any individual who commits traffic offences that endanger public safety. Members of the public are urged to always obey road rules and practise courteous and responsible driving.
Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the police to aid the ongoing investigation.
The viral video has sparked widespread concern among netizens about rising road safety issues in Kuala Lumpur, with many calling for stricter enforcement against reckless drivers.
