LOS ANGELES February 21, 2026 – U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly called on Netflix to sack former United Nations Ambassador and current board member Susan Rice, warning the streaming giant it will “pay the consequences” if it refuses.
In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump launched a blistering personal attack on Rice, a veteran Democratic foreign policy figure who has served on Netflix’s board since 2018.
“Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences,” Trump wrote. “She’s got no talent or skills – Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what??? Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT.”
The outburst comes just days after Rice appeared on Preet Bharara’s “Stay Tuned with Preet” podcast, where she warned that corporations, law firms, media companies and universities that “took a knee” to the Trump administration would face an “accountability agenda” if Democrats regain power in the 2026 midterms and 2028 presidential election.
“There will be an accountability agenda,” Rice said. “It is not going to end well for them… ‘We’ll forgive you for all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you’ve violated, all the laws you’ve skirted.’ I think they’ve got another thing coming.”
Far-right activist Laura Loomer amplified Rice’s remarks on X, framing them as a threat and urging Trump to block Netflix’s reported $83 billion bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Trump reposted Loomer’s message alongside his own demand.
Netflix has not issued any public response to the president’s statement.
Rice, who also served as National Security Advisor under President Barack Obama and as a senior advisor in the Biden administration, joined Netflix’s board in 2018. She briefly stepped down during her government service before returning.
The development adds a sharp political dimension to Netflix’s high-stakes pursuit of Warner Bros. Discovery, one of the largest proposed media mergers in recent years.
This is not the first time Trump has targeted perceived political opponents in the entertainment industry, but his direct intervention in a major corporation’s boardroom decisions marks an escalation in the ongoing culture and regulatory battles between the administration and legacy media players.
