DILI, TIMOR-LESTE, Sept 24, 2025 – In a historic step toward ASEAN membership, Timor-Leste celebrated the launch of the Dili Port Convention Centre project during an official visit by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Joined by President Dr José Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, the ceremony underscored Timor-Leste’s commitment to regional integration and economic progress.
As ASEAN Chair, Malaysia commended Timor-Leste’s steadfast efforts in implementing its ASEAN membership action plan. The convention centre project not only symbolizes the nation’s development strides but also paves the way for enhanced economic collaboration with Malaysia. The initiative is poised to contribute to the growth, stability, and prosperity of the broader ASEAN region.
