PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA February 22, 2026 – The Special Investigation Committee (Jawatankuasa Khas Siasatan) probing share ownership by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki held a meeting on Feb 19 and summoned him to explain his acquisition of 17.7 million shares in Velocity Capital Partner Bhd.
In an official media statement issued today, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri bin Abu Bakar said the committee called Tan Sri Azam Baki to provide details on the shares, which were purchased for RM1.416 million.
“Based on the initial report received, the Special Investigation Committee is studying the aspects of the truth and validity of the share ownership by Tan Sri Azam Baki,” the statement read.
The committee is still evaluating all explanations obtained and will summon additional relevant witnesses to complete its probe into the matter.
Tan Sri Shamsul Azri gave a strong assurance that the investigation “will be conducted thoroughly, freely and professionally.”
“The results of the investigation and considerations for subsequent action will be submitted to the relevant authorities, including if it is found that there has been a violation of any criminal law or regulations in force,” he added.
The statement, signed by Tan Sri Shamsul Azri on behalf of the government, comes amid ongoing public interest in the case, which first drew attention following corporate filings and media reports earlier this month.
The full official statement is available on government channels. Life News Agency will continue to monitor developments in this high-profile investigation.
