PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, Aug 13, 2025 – In a brazen attack at approximately 1:45 PM today, the young child of Pandan MP and former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli was assaulted outside a shopping mall in Putrajaya. According to Rafizi, an unidentified man dragged his child and injected them with a syringe as his wife and child were entering their car.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was premeditated. Two men, dressed entirely in black and wearing full-face helmets, were seen following Rafizi’s wife’s car on a motorcycle. The assailants appeared to have waited for the opportune moment to carry out the assault.
The child was immediately rushed to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Hospital for treatment. Police responded swiftly to the scene, and Rafizi and his family have provided statements to the authorities.
Details regarding the incident, ongoing investigations, and the child’s medical condition will be released by the police and UPM Hospital, Rafizi stated. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and UPM Hospital for their prompt assistance during this distressing ordeal.
“This is the first time my family has been targeted with such an attack and threat in my years as a public figure and politician,” Rafizi said. He believes the attack was a warning to silence him on certain issues, though he did not elaborate further.
Rafizi extended his appreciation to those who have sent messages of support and concern. “God willing, while I will take steps to enhance security measures, I will not bow to any threats and will continue to carry out my duties as usual,” he affirmed.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of public figures and their families, with authorities expected to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
