KUCHING, Malaysia 15 July 2025 – The International Energy Week (IEW) 2025 kicked off today at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), with a grand opening ceremony officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. The event underscores Sarawak’s pivotal role in Malaysia’s transition to a sustainable energy future.

The IEW, Sarawak’s premier platform for global energy dialogue, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and thought leaders to drive innovation, foster cross-border collaboration, and promote a low-carbon, secure energy ecosystem.
In attendance were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian and Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr. Hazland bin Abang Hipni, highlighting Sarawak’s unified commitment to sustainable development through energy transformation.
Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, who was also present, praised Sarawak’s integrated approach, blending economic growth with environmental stewardship, positioning the state as a regional leader in clean energy.
The event marks a significant step in advancing Sarawak’s vision for a sustainable and inclusive energy future, setting a benchmark for Malaysia and beyond.
