PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, July 25, 2025 – Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook has directed all public transportation services, including KTMB and Prasarana train stations, to maintain normal operations on 26 July 2025, despite the planned “Turun Anwar” rally in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement today, Loke emphasized the Madani government’s commitment to upholding the right to peaceful assembly, including for those opposing the government. “We must not return to an era where democracy was suppressed to the point of shutting down Parliament,” he said, underscoring the importance of ensuring public transport remains operational to minimize disruptions for the majority of citizens carrying out their weekend activities.
To facilitate travel to the capital, Loke reminded the public that the MY50 pass, offering unlimited rides on public transport for RM50 (with a RM100 government subsidy), can now be renewed online via the Touch N’ Go app. For first-time visitors to Kuala Lumpur, the MyCity Pass, priced at RM6, provides unlimited daily access to LRT, MRT, BRT, Monorail, and RapidBus services. The pass is set to be digitized by year-end.
The minister encouraged rally participants to utilize public transport to reduce traffic congestion in the city. “Let’s work together to keep Kuala Lumpur moving smoothly,” he urged.
The announcement comes as the city braces for the opposition-led rally, expected to draw significant crowds tomorrow.
