PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA February 24, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a high-level meeting with the top management of the Ministry of Defence and senior leadership of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), where he was briefed on key strategic decisions impacting national sovereignty and security.
During the session, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of strengthening the ATM’s preparedness and capabilities to address increasingly complex geo-strategic challenges and threats. He described the armed forces as the primary bulwark of national defence and a vital symbol of Malaysia’s sovereignty that must be upheld at all times.
Anwar also placed strong emphasis on the welfare of Ministry of Defence personnel, particularly housing issues that directly affect the well-being of service members and their families. He reaffirmed that the MADANI Government will continue to prioritise the welfare of officers, personnel and families within the security forces.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister attended a tazkirah (religious lecture) at Masjid Khalid Bin Al Walid as part of the Ihya Ramadan programme organised for ministry staff. He later joined the congregation for Zuhur prayers.
Photos shared by the Prime Minister’s Office showed Anwar exchanging warm handshakes with senior military officers in uniform and participating alongside them during the religious gathering on prayer mats.
The visit highlights the government’s commitment to both enhancing national defence readiness and supporting the men and women who safeguard the country.
