KUANTAN, PAHANG, MALAYSIA April 4, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’Seri Anwar Ibrahim last night officiated the opening of the Kejohanan Silat Piala PMX Pendekar MADANI 2026 at the Pahang Rangers home ground in Kuantan, describing the event as a historic platform to revive the spirit of national heroism through Malaysia’s traditional martial art.
In his speech, the Prime Minister expressed pride in witnessing the enthusiasm and commitment of young silat athletes who are not only preserving silat as a cultural heritage but also demonstrating resilience against modern challenges.
“Silat is not merely an art of self-defence,” he said. “It is a symbol of identity that instils discipline, courage, responsibility and respect.”
Anwar linked the championship to the MADANI framework, stressing that the ideal pendekar (warrior) is a generation skilled in the arena yet firm in morals, clear in rejecting injustice and corruption, and committed to upholding values in daily life.
He voiced confidence that sustained efforts by silat practitioners and instructors would ensure this heritage continues to flourish, producing a strong young generation — generasi myda — with a resilient spirit, love for religion, race and country, while strengthening unity and elevating Malaysia’s dignity.
The Prime Minister called on all Malaysians to support the preservation of silat as a living tradition and source of national strength.
The event featured vibrant performances, a large gathering of silat exponents in traditional attire, and energetic group poses by participants alongside a prominent trophy. Anwar was seen interacting closely with youths and families, as well as delivering his address from the podium during the ceremony.
The Piala PMX Pendekar MADANI 2026 is expected to showcase the best of Malaysia’s silat talent while reinforcing cultural pride and the government’s vision for holistic youth development.
