WASHINGTON D.C February 8, 2026 – President Donald J. Trump sharply criticized the Super Bowl LX halftime show headlined by Bad Bunny, calling it “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” in a strongly worded statement shared by the White House Rapid Response account on X.
The performance, which featured Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny alongside guests Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, celebrated Latino culture with a high-energy set that included Spanish-language songs and reggaeton-style dancing. It marked the first time a Spanish-speaking artist headlined the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show solo.
In his full statement, President Trump wrote:
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD — And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The president’s comments quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. Supporters echoed his view that the performance was inappropriate for a family audience and failed to reflect traditional American values, while others praised Bad Bunny’s show for its cultural pride and representation.
The Super Bowl LX halftime show, performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, has been celebrated by many as a historic moment for Latino artists. Critics of President Trump’s remarks argued that the performance showcased America’s diversity and cultural richness.
This is not the first time a Super Bowl halftime show has sparked controversy, with past performances also facing criticism over content and messaging.
The NFL has not issued an official response to the president’s comments as of publication.
