FLORIDA January 16, 2026 – President Donald Trump participated in a dedication ceremony at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, marking the official renaming of a 4-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard to President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.
The event, held in the afternoon, celebrated the honorary designation of the roadway segment running from near Palm Beach International Airport to the vicinity of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. The White House live-streamed the ceremony on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the president’s involvement in the proceedings.
The renaming initiative originated in 2025, when the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously (7-0) on July 8 to approve the change. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed supporting legislation the previous year, enabling the honorary designation after required approvals from local municipalities.
While earlier public discussions in 2025 drew mixed reactions, including some opposition from residents, the proposal ultimately moved forward without dissent from county officials.
The ceremony underscores continued recognition of President Trump’s ties to Palm Beach County, where Mar-a-Lago serves as his private residence and frequent venue for official events. This visit marked his fifth consecutive weekend in Florida.
New signage for President Donald J. Trump Boulevard is expected to be installed along the designated route in the coming weeks.
