Kuala Lumpur, 17 January 2026 – The rich tapestry of Malaysia’s cultural heritage came alive once again at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, during the celebration of Pongal Perpaduan 2026. Now in its second consecutive year, the celebration marks Jasmine Food Corporation’s (Jasmine Food) continued support in honouring the Kanni Pongal festival, reaffirming its commitment to unity, tradition, and community-building through food.
For the second year running, JFC proudly joined hands with fellow sponsors CSR Sugar, QBB Ghee, and GoodDay Milk, whose collective support helped bring this meaningful celebration to life. Together, these partnerships brought to life a vibrant and heartfelt event, encapsulating the spirit of unity and cultural pride that defines Kanni Pongal.
Kanni Pongal: A Celebration Rooted in Gratitude and Unity
Kanni Pongal is a traditional Tamil harvest festival celebrated as an expression of thanksgiving for abundance and prosperity. In Malaysia, the festival has evolved beyond its cultural origins to become a symbol of inclusivity and unity. At this year’s celebration, attendees from diverse backgrounds joined hands to participate in traditional rituals, cultural showcases, and a grand communal feast.
Event Highlights Featuring Jasmine Rice and Others
• Pongal Pot Cooking Ceremony
The highlight of the celebration was the 50 Pongal pot cooking ceremony, featuring Jasmine Super 5 rice as the key ingredient. Cooked in traditional earthen pots, the Pongal symbolises prosperity, abundance, and collective gratitude, reflecting the spirit of Pongal Perpaduan.
• Cultural Performances
Guests were treated to vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances and Tamil music, showcasing the beauty and richness of Malaysia’s multicultural heritage.
As this marks Jasmine’s second year of participation, Mr Alan Kwong, Chief Operating Officer of JFC expressed pride in being part of the celebration.
