MALAYSIA, Lumut, June 15, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim kicked off his official duties in Perak today with a visit to the Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) to review progress on the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project. The landmark initiative, fully designed and built by local expertise from the ground up, marks a historic milestone for Malaysia’s defence industry.

Speaking after a briefing session, Anwar expressed excitement over the project’s achievements, hailing the skills and capabilities of Malaysian talent.
“Alhamdulillah, this is a truly remarkable accomplishment,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for the project to adhere to its timeline while upholding integrity and robust governance principles.
“I hope this project is executed on schedule without compromising on integrity or good governance,” he stated.
Following the briefing, Anwar, accompanied by senior government officials and Malaysian Armed Forces leaders, toured LCS1 – Maharajalela, which is currently undergoing testing. He voiced strong confidence in the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) and LUNAS, expressing optimism that their commitment would ensure the project’s success.
“With their steadfast dedication, I am confident this project will be completed excellently, strengthening our nation’s maritime sovereignty,” he added.
The LCS project is seen as a critical step in bolstering Malaysia’s naval capabilities, with the government prioritizing its timely delivery to enhance national security.
