PUTRAJAYA. MALAYSIA March 26, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today revealed details of a telephone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during which he extended Aidilfitri greetings and underscored Malaysia’s resolve to elevate bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership.
In the official statement posted on his X account, Prime Minister Anwar said the leaders also exchanged views on the ongoing situation in West Asia (Middle East). Malaysia expressed deep concern over the current conflict and appreciated Egypt’s constructive role in urging the warring parties towards immediate de-escalation, dialogue, and an end to violence.
On the Palestinian issue, Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s full support for Egypt’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza. He stressed that any peace initiative must be anchored on an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access. The Prime Minister also sought Egypt’s backing for Malaysia’s planned 2026 humanitarian aid mission, which will be routed through the Rafah border crossing in the near future.
The conversation highlights the strengthening of Malaysia-Egypt diplomatic ties and Malaysia’s consistent stance on the Palestinian cause.
This latest diplomatic engagement comes as Malaysia continues to play an active role in international humanitarian efforts amid the prolonged conflict in Gaza.
