KUALA LUMPUR April 19, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed that Malaysia’s strength lies in its rich cultural diversity, which serves as the foundation for national unity and resilience.
Speaking at the Visit Malaysia 2026 Vaisakhi Fest, Anwar stressed that diversity is not a challenge to overcome but a collective strength to be celebrated. He was addressing the Sikh community during the festive event organised in conjunction with the national tourism campaign.
“Malaysia’s strength is anchored in the diversity of cultures, traditions and communities that form the pillar of national unity and resilience,” the Prime Minister said.
He added: “Cultural diversity in Malaysia is a vital element that elevates the spirit of togetherness, strengthens national identity and unites us as one harmonious nation.”
As a mark of appreciation for the Sikh community’s longstanding contributions to the country, the government has announced an initial allocation of RM500,000 to support Sikh community activities and celebrations nationwide.
Anwar noted that the Sikh community has been an integral part of Malaysia’s journey, making meaningful contributions to societal development and national progress.
The announcement underscores the Madani government’s commitment to inclusive policies that recognise and empower all communities in building a harmonious and progressive Malaysia.
