JITRA, KEDAH, Malaysia. July 25, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today attended the 2025 Anti-Drug Day celebration at Dataran Darulaman, Jitra, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace in Malaysia.

In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized that drug abuse is not merely a criminal issue but a grave threat to the nation’s dignity and future. “We are up against well-organized syndicates with substantial funding, supporters, and extensive networks. However, the government remains resolute. We stand firm with political will, moral courage, and continuous commitment to fight this battle to the end,” he declared.
Anwar stressed that the government’s approach goes beyond punitive measures, focusing on breaking the cycle of addiction, particularly among the poor and vulnerable who are often the primary victims. He called for strengthened synergy between the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) through a comprehensive and integrated strategy encompassing prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation.
“The government is determined not just to control but to eradicate the drug threat at its roots,” he asserted, underscoring the commitment to decisively end the scourge of drugs. Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Anwar emphasized that the fight must persist for the sake of future generations and a nation free from the shackles of drug abuse.
