BATU PAHAT June 5, 2026 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) will officially kick off its election machinery for the upcoming Johor state polls tomorrow night, with party chairman Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim expected to officiate the event.
The launch will take place at Dewan Sekolah Tinggi Cina in Batu Pahat, alongside Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and other PH leaders. It marks a key step in PH’s independent campaign strategy following the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly on June 1, 2026.
A promotional poster shared by New Straits Times highlights PH’s unity, featuring Anwar Ibrahim alongside other prominent leaders against a backdrop of the Malaysian flag and a Johor landmark.
The move comes amid heightened political tensions within the unity government. PH has announced it will contest all 56 state seats independently after Barisan Nasional (BN) declared it would field candidates in every constituency. Johor BN, which currently holds a strong majority with around 40 seats from the previous election, is set to launch its own machinery this weekend.
The state polls must be held by July 31, 2026. Observers see the Johor election as a crucial test for the Anwar-led federal government and a potential precursor to further state polls or even a snap national election if coalition frictions intensify.
PH Johor has expressed full readiness to campaign on its track record and policy promises, positioning itself as a strong alternative in the BN stronghold.
More details on the launch programme and key campaign issues are expected to be revealed tomorrow.
