KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA December 30, 2025 – Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the continuity and stability of the Perlis state government under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, while calling for unity and lessons to be learned from recent political developments.
In a media statement issued today by PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, the party outlined its position following a thorough review of the situation involving the Perlis state government and PN.
PAS central leadership stated that the party remains steadfast in upholding its continuity and existence within the Perlis state government in line with the mandate given by the people in the 15th General Election (PRU-15). However, it clarified that no former Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri (EXCO) members will be reappointed to the new EXCO lineup. All PAS EXCO members are prepared to relinquish their positions as a sign of solidarity with the outgoing Menteri Besar.
The statement emphasised PAS’s call for all parties to engage in discussions and take immediate steps to rebuild public trust in PN. The party expressed disappointment over recent events but urged a focus on moving forward to avoid further erosion of confidence among voters ahead of future elections, including the 16th General Election (PRN) and potential by-elections (PRU).
Additionally, PAS reaffirmed its commitment to remain united, avoiding divisive actions such as “princess-prince fights,” controversial appointments, or demands involving the Raja of Perlis, DYMM Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibn Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, for the sake of the state and people’s well-being.
The statement comes amid a political crisis in Perlis that saw the resignation of former Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli and the subsequent appointment of a new leader, highlighting internal tensions within PN. PAS stressed that unity and principled governance remain its priorities to serve the rakyat effectively.
