Online Petition Launched to Defend Judicial Independence in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Malayeia, July 11, 2025 – Following a press conference by KEADILAN Members of Parliament on July 7, 2025, former Malaysian Economy Minister and Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has spearheaded an online petition to safeguard the independence of the nation’s judicial institutions. The initiative comes amid growing concerns over alleged interference in the judiciary, a topic that has dominated recent political discourse.

In a statement released today, Rafizi urged all Malaysians to sign the petition as a powerful show of public support for maintaining a free and integrity-driven judiciary. “I call on the people of Malaysia to stand together and sign this petition to ensure our judicial institutions remain independent and uncompromised,” he said.

The petition, accessible at https://bit.ly/PertahanKehakiman, seeks to rally widespread backing and raise awareness about the critical need to protect judicial autonomy. Further details about the campaign are available on the linked platform, encouraging citizens to engage with the issue that Ramli emphasized will have far-reaching implications for the nation’s future.

This move follows the KEADILAN MPs’ earlier demand for a royal inquiry and urgent reforms, triggered by reported delays in judicial appointments by the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC). The online petition is part of a broader effort that includes planned public forums, starting with an event in Kuala Lumpur/Selangor on July 13, 2025, and a cross-party campaign within Parliament.

Rafizi appealed to the public to share the petition widely, underscoring its significance. “This is an issue that affects every Malaysian and our country’s future,” he added. As of this morning, the petition has begun circulating, with hopes of galvanizing national support to address the ongoing judicial crisis.

I strongly believe Judicial System should NOT be influence by any parties or person(s).

Our Judicial System should be for the Rakyat, by the Rakyat in view pure justice and NO DOUBLE STANDARD.
