JEDDAH February 22, 2026 – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a sharp condemnation of recent statements by US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, describing them as “dangerous and irresponsible” and a direct threat to peace and security across the Middle East.
In a statement released on Saturday, the 57-member OIC bloc – which represents the collective voice of the Muslim world and includes Malaysia – slammed Huckabee’s comments as an “unacceptable call for the expansion of Israel, the occupying power, and the seizure of additional Palestinian and Arab lands.”
The remarks were made during an interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson on a podcast released Friday. Huckabee asserted that Israel has a biblical right to territory stretching from the Nile River in Egypt to the Euphrates River in Iraq, reportedly stating: “It would be fine if they (Israel) took it all.”
The OIC described the comments as rooted in “a false and rejected historical and ideological narrative” that violates state sovereignty, diplomatic norms, principles of international law, United Nations resolutions, and the UN Charter.
“Such extremist ideological rhetoric would fuel further extremism and embolden Israeli policies centered on displacement, settlement expansion, and attempts to impose annexation on occupied Palestinian territory,” the statement warned. “These measures threaten security and stability in the entire region.”
The OIC reaffirmed its “unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Huckabee, a prominent evangelical Christian and longtime advocate for Israel, was appointed US Ambassador to Israel in April 2025. He has previously expressed support for expansionist claims based on religious grounds, particularly regarding the West Bank.
The condemnation echoes similar reactions from the Arab League and several member states, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine, who have criticised the remarks as provocative and inconsistent with international norms.
The controversy comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza and continued settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
This is the latest in a series of diplomatic flashpoints involving US officials’ comments on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The story is developing. Life News Agency will continue to monitor reactions from OIC member states, including Malaysia.
