PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA March 31, 2026 – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar today denied rumours circulating on social media claiming that she had resigned from her position as the party’s Deputy President.
In a media statement dated 31 March 2026 issued from Petaling Jaya, Nurul Izzah firmly stated that the allegations are completely untrue.
“I refer to the rumours and claims spreading on social media regarding my position in the leadership of Parti Keadilan Rakyat. With this, I wish to clarify that the claim that I have resigned as Deputy President of KEADILAN is entirely false,” she said.
She emphasised her unwavering commitment to carrying out the mandate given to her in line with the party members’ trust and the organisation’s democratic processes.
“There has been no change whatsoever in the existing leadership structure, and my main focus now is to continue strengthening the party’s struggle agenda,” she added.
Nurul Izzah also expressed appreciation for the concern shown by all parties but urged the public not to be influenced by false information or malicious speculation.
“All accurate information will only be disseminated through official party statements,” she stressed.
The statement was issued following speculation about her resignation that began circulating on social media in recent days. Earlier, PKR Information Chief Fahmi Fadzil had also dismissed the claims as “fake news”.
Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was elected as PKR Deputy President for the 2025–2028 term during last year’s party elections.
As of now, there has been no change in the PKR leadership, and she continues to hold the position while focusing on advancing the party’s agenda.
