TAWAU, 8 October 2025 – DAP Deputy National Chairman, YB Nga Kor Ming, highlighted seven (7) key achievements and nine (9) major reforms under the MADANI administration, reaffirming the party’s commitment to continue serving the people and strengthening the nation.

In his speech at the DAP Tawau Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration, Nga noted that Malaysia has defied market expectations to record a 5.1% economic growth last year, while the Ringgit appreciated by more than 20%, making it one of the strongest-performing currencies in 2025.
The Housing and Local Government Minister further pointed out that inflation remained below 2%, the lowest in the region, and that the unemployment rate stood at 3.1% as of December last year. Meanwhile, approved Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reached RM378.5 billion, the highest in the nation’s history.
Additionally, Malaysia’s export and trade volumes surpassed RM2 trillion, while the country’s world competitiveness ranking improved significantly — rising from 34th to 23rd globally.

On institutional reforms, Nga outlined several major initiatives under the MADANI Government, including
- implementing targeted subsidies for RON95 and diesel, projected to save up to RM10 billion;
- recovering RM5 billion from corruption cases;
- revamping the pension scheme for new civil service recruits, expected to save up to RM43 billion;
- reinstating the Parliamentary Services Act 2025 to strengthen the separation of powers;
- granting citizenship to overseas-born children of Malaysian women;
- reducing bureaucratic red tape by 25% through the Government Service Efficiency Commitment Act 2025;
- passing the Media Council Bill 2025 to improve media freedom;
- passing the government procurement bill to enhance accountability; and
- approving the separation of the Attorney General’s Chambers from the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Cabinet level.
“Malaysia is now firmly on the right track under the visionary leadership of the MADANI Government. The federal and state governments must continue to work hand in hand to deliver even greater progress and meaningful change for the people,” he said.
“As long as DAP stands strong in Sabah, we remain fully committed to driving reforms, empowering the people, and bringing positive changes to every corner of the state,” he emphasised.

Also present at the event was Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodity Datuk Chan Foong Hin, DAP Sabah Chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, DAP Sabah Executive Committee Member Phillip Yap Wui Lip and PKR prospective candidate Datuk Haji Ruji Bin Haji Ubi.
