Nearly 10,000 Faulty MyKads Replaced Since BUDI95 Implementation, Madani Government Bears RM714,000 Cost

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept 2025 – Since the announcement of the BUDI95 initiative by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 22 September, nearly 10,000 faulty MyKads have been replaced nationwide, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He stated that the daily replacement rate for MyKads typically stands at around 1,000 units, but this figure has surged significantly within just two weeks of the announcement. “Alhamdulillah, Malaysians seem to be preparing to benefit from the targeted BUDI95 subsidy,” he said in a statement today.

As part of the Madani Government’s initiative, the RM10 fee for replacing faulty MyKad chips has been waived from 23 September to 7 October 2025. This initiative has incurred a cost of RM714,000, fully borne by the government.

Saifuddin emphasized that the National Registration Department (JPN) is proud to support the success of BUDI95, ensuring MyKad remains a valid document to distinguish citizens from non-citizens. “This is crucial for the success of the targeted subsidy policy exclusively for Malaysians,” he said.

He further described the initiative as reflecting the true face of the Madani Government, which is “attentive, caring, and people-centric.”
