KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA Sept 30, 2025 – The National Art Gallery (Balai Seni Negara) has announced the extension of its highly acclaimed Chung Chen Sun Archive Project exhibition, now set to run until December 29, 2025, following an extraordinary visitor turnout.

Since its opening on March 4, the exhibition at the Portrait Gallery has attracted more than 21,000 visitors, prompting the gallery to prolong the display to allow more people to explore the legacy of this renowned artist and educator.
The exhibition features a comprehensive collection of archival materials, including photographs, sketches, catalogs, interview recordings, and rarely exhibited artworks in Chinese ink, oil, and pastel. Curated through the lens of Confucian philosophy, it traces Chung Chen Sun’s artistic journey from national to international contexts, while highlighting his pivotal role as the founder of the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) and his significant contributions to Malaysia’s art education landscape.
This extension aligns with the National Art Gallery’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the documentation of Malaysia’s visual arts heritage, ensuring that the legacies of influential figures like Chung Chen Sun are preserved and appreciated by current and future generations.
The public is invited to visit the exhibition, which remains free of charge. For more information, visit www.artgallery.gov.my or follow the National Art Gallery’s official social media channels.
