NADI Pulau Banggi Strengthens Rural Digitalization Efforts in Sabah

KUDAT, SABAH, Malaysia 11 AUGUST 2025 – Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, yesterday visited the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in Pulau Banggi to monitor the progress of digitalization initiatives in rural Sabah. The visit included engaging with the local community, including members of the MADANI Community, and reviewing the status of telecommunications connectivity in the Kudat district.

Operated under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), NADI Pulau Banggi serves as a one-stop digital community hub, providing Internet access, digital skills training, and information services to rural residents. Equipped with Starlink technology offering Internet speeds exceeding 100Mbps, the centre also features training spaces and resources to support economic development, education, and digital entrepreneurship.

In addition to inspecting NADI’s facilities, Fahmi assessed the progress of telecommunications coverage in Pulau Banggi, which shows positive developments in expanding network access. The visit underscores the MADANI Government’s commitment to driving socio-economic development through enhanced digital accessibility in remote areas.

The NADI Pulau Banggi initiative, part of Malaysia’s NADI Digital Inclusive Project, was also crowned champion of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 in the Capacity Building category, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and United Nations agencies. This accolade highlights the government’s dedication to ensuring no community is left behind in the national digitalization agenda.
