GUA MUSANG, KELANTAN, Malaysia – July 30 2025 – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) recently visited Kampung Sungai Relai in Gua Musang to address residents’ complaints about inadequate communication coverage in the area.

An inspection revealed a 76-meter communication tower in the vicinity, but it only houses microwave equipment linking two other towers at different locations, providing no network coverage to nearby users. A test conducted confirmed the absence of coverage in the area.
To resolve the issue, MCMC has outlined several measures. A notice under Section 5(12) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 was issued to all service providers failing to meet the required coverage standards in the area.
Additionally, MCMC has identified a proposed site for a new tower to offer comprehensive coverage to local residents through the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA) project.
MCMC has also engaged with service providers to consider upgrading the existing tower to support 4G coverage using a more stable fiber optic connection.
The commission will continue to monitor the project’s progress, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring quality communication services for Kampung Sungai Relai residents.
