MALAYSIA, KUALA PILAH, June 15, 2025 – Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), announced his decision to step down from his position on June 22, concluding a two-year tenure at the helm of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The 61-year-old made the announcement during the IGP Madani 2025 Village Adoption Harmony Programme in Kampung Parit Seberang, where he was seen engaging warmly with residents, even taking a wefie with the community.

Razarudin’s decision not to extend his contract comes with a personal touch, as he cited his 86-year-old mother’s wishes as a significant factor.

“A mother’s words are a prayer, I wouldn’t go against her,” he told reporters, reflecting a deep sense of familial duty alongside his professional responsibilities.

His tenure as IGP has been marked by efforts to strengthen community ties and enhance cross-border cooperation, notably earning him Singapore’s Distinguished Service Order on June 11 for his contributions to combating transnational crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism.

The outgoing IGP’s leadership saw initiatives like the village adoption programme, aimed at fostering harmony and trust between the police and local communities. His final days in office are expected to focus on ensuring a smooth transition for the PDRM, with no successor yet named.

As Razarudin prepares to step away, his legacy reflects a blend of operational rigor and a commitment to the human side of policing, leaving a notable imprint on Malaysia’s law enforcement landscape.
