PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA March 6, 2026 – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has announced a major upgrade to Malaysia’s digital immigration system, aimed at enhancing service quality and data security. The initiative involves migrating data from the existing Immigration Department system to the new National Immigration Integrated System (NIISe), with works scheduled from March 9 to 15, 2026. Maintenance will occur daily from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, potentially causing temporary disruptions to several online immigration services.
In a media statement released today, KDN emphasized that the upgrade is part of the MADANI Government’s ongoing commitment to delivering more stable, efficient, and user-friendly immigration services. “This implementation is a continuous effort to strengthen data security and boost system efficiency,” the ministry stated, assuring the public that close monitoring will ensure a swift return to full operations.
To minimize inconvenience during the maintenance period, KDN has outlined several contingency measures for the public:
– Manual Processing at Borders : International entry points will activate manual lanes and backup systems to maintain smooth inbound and outbound movements, without compromising national security.
– Real-Time Updates : The latest system status information will be shared via the official websites and social media channels of KDN, the Malaysian Immigration Department, and the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS). This will help travelers plan their journeys effectively.
– Support Channels.: Users in need of assistance can contact the Immigration Department’s official helplines or visit nearby immigration offices.
The public is advised to handle immigration-related matters in advance and avoid online transactions during the specified maintenance windows. KDN reiterated that these steps are designed to ensure minimal impact on daily operations while prioritizing long-term improvements.
