KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA December 17, 2025 – The Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) has extended its warm congratulations to the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, and Deputy Minister YB Mordi anak Bimol, emphasizing the need for a youth development agenda grounded in the real challenges faced by young Malaysians.
In a media statement released today, MBM highlighted the timely nature of the appointments amid pressing issues affecting the nation’s youth, including rising living costs, graduate employability, evolving job markets, and mental health concerns. The council expressed hope that the new leadership at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will prioritize policies that are data-driven and informed by grassroots voices to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
“MBM hopes the new KBS leadership can ensure the youth development agenda remains relevant, centered on the actual realities of young people, and based on data-driven policies and grassroots input,” the statement read.
The council underscored the importance of bolstering youth organizations as strategic partners to the government, with a focus on advancing youth economic initiatives, promoting dignified employment opportunities, and fostering inclusive development that encompasses all segments of the youth population.
MBM also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the outgoing ministers, YB Hannah Yeoh and YB Adam Adli, for their contributions and commitment during their tenure at KBS.
Reaffirming its role, MBM stated its commitment to serving as a critical yet constructive collaborator with the government to safeguard youth interests. “MBM remains committed to being a critical but constructive collaborative partner to ensure youth interests continue to be upheld,” the statement added.
The statement was signed by Mohd Izzat Afifi Hj Abdul Hamid, President of the Malaysian Youth Council, under the banner “Belia Bertindak demi Keadilan dan Kebenaran Menggerak Belia!” (Youth Act for Justice and Truth to Mobilize Youth!).
This development comes as Malaysia continues to navigate post-pandemic recovery, with youth empowerment being a key pillar in national development plans. MBM, as the umbrella body for youth organizations in the country, plays a pivotal role in advocating for policies that address the aspirations and needs of Malaysia’s younger generation.
