PUTRAJAYA. MALAYSIA Oct 4, 2025 – Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today expressed strong optimism regarding Hamas’s response to the ceasefire proposal in Gaza, describing it as a critical step toward halting the ongoing war and massacres.

In a statement shared on X, Anwar emphasized that this development could open immediate avenues for relief to the suffering people of Gaza. He also commended the remarks by United States President Donald J. Trump, who urged Israel to stop attacks and bombings, as a vital push toward a solid and steadfast peace.
“The most important aspect now is wisdom and high patience, especially to halt attacks immediately, ensure a period of calm, and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” said Anwar, adding that lasting security cannot be achieved overnight but must be built step by step without any delays.
He condemned the “savage” tragedy that has shaken the world’s conscience and called for an immediate end to the suffering of Gaza’s residents. Anwar urged Arab nations, particularly Qatar in collaboration with Turkey, and the Islamic world as a whole, to play a leading role in ensuring the ceasefire continues and reviving prospects for a political solution.
The United States was also called out for bearing significant responsibility in pressuring Israel to comply with its obligations and make space for diplomatic efforts.
In a related development, Anwar announced that he will welcome President Trump to Kuala Lumpur this month, coinciding with the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN-US Summit. He hopes this forum will open fresh spaces for dialogue on how Malaysia, along with its partners, can contribute to shaping a just, peaceful, and sustainable world order that includes guaranteeing the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of a sovereign and dignified Palestinian state.
Anwar’s statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, where ceasefire negotiations remain in early stages, with Qatar and Egypt playing key roles as mediators.
