PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA March 24, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today engaged in a productive telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, reaffirming the deep and enduring friendship between Malaysia and Japan.
In an official statement posted on X, Anwar highlighted the strong bilateral relations that have flourished since diplomatic ties were established in 1957, now further elevated through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).
The two leaders reviewed significant progress in priority areas of cooperation, including peace and security, the economy, as well as science, technology, and innovation.
Anwar also shared Malaysia’s firm stance on the situation in the Middle East, underscoring the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy in accordance with international law.
Both prime ministers agreed to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and to play constructive roles in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity at the regional and global levels.
The call reflects the ongoing commitment of both nations to their strategic partnership under the MADANI framework.
