KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA 0ct 22, 2025 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on Wednesday that the MADANI administration is making steady progress in addressing key issues under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) for Sabah, with 13 major demands now successfully resolved.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar highlighted the efforts of the MA63 Technical Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof. “This achievement underscores the government’s firm commitment to honoring its pledges to the people of Sabah,” he said.
The updates come amid ongoing legal proceedings, including a recent Kota Kinabalu High Court ruling on Sabah’s entitlement to 40 percent of federal revenues. Anwar emphasized that the government fully respects the judicial process and will carefully review the judgment’s grounds once received. “Any subsequent actions will be guided by the Attorney General’s advice,” he added, stressing the need for decisions that prioritize Sabah’s interests and the broader welfare of Malaysia.
The MA63, signed in 1963, outlines the terms for Sabah and Sarawak’s integration into the federation, and resolving related disputes has been a priority for the unity government since taking office in late 2022.
