Malaysian DPM Voices Concern Over Attack on Global Sumud Flotilla, Confirms Safety of Malaysian Volunteers

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia Sept 24, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed deep concern over reports of an attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission delivering aid to Gaza, emphasizing the risks faced by volunteers whose lives and safety are at stake.

In a video call with Musa Al-Nuwayri, one of the Malaysian representatives on the flotilla, Ahmad Zahid received reassuring updates that all Malaysian participants are safe. He praised their unwavering resolve to continue the mission despite significant challenges and dangers.

“I am relieved to hear directly from our volunteers, whose spirits remain strong in the face of adversity,” Ahmad Zahid said, highlighting the group’s commitment to delivering critical aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

The Deputy Prime Minister called on Malaysians to unite in prayer for the safety of the Global Sumud Flotilla volunteers and the Palestinian people. “Our prayers are our weapon, and our solidarity is our strength,” he urged, expressing hope that the mission would succeed in reaching those in need.

The statement underscores Malaysia’s steadfast support for humanitarian efforts and solidarity with the Palestinian cause amid ongoing regional challenges.
