PUTRAJAYA April 13, 2026 – Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin today praised Iran’s military technology and the resilience of its people during a courtesy call by the Iranian Ambassador to Malaysia.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Khaled Nordin said he conveyed his admiration for Iran’s advancements in drone, rocket and missile technology, as well as the patriotism, determination and resilience shown by the Iranian nation.
“During the Iranian Ambassador’s visit, I express my admiration for Iran’s drone, rocket, and missile technology as well as the patriotism, determination, and resilience of the Iranian people toward their country,” he wrote in Malay and English.
The meeting was held with His Excellency Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Malaysia. Photos released by the minister show the ambassador signing the guest book with Khaled Nordin standing beside him, and the two leaders shaking hands in front of the Malaysian national coat of arms and flags.
The courtesy visit underscores the ongoing bilateral relations between Malaysia and Iran in the defence and strategic sectors. Khaled Nordin, who is also UMNO Deputy President and Member of Parliament for Kota Tinggi, used the occasion to highlight areas of mutual interest between the two countries.
