KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia. Aug 21, 2025– Following the tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, hosted a courtesy visit by Indonesia’s Minister of Law, Dr. Supratman Andi Agtas, at Menara MyIPO on Thursday.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation at the ministerial level, building on existing collaborations between Malaysia’s Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO) and Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP). Discussions centered on sharing expertise and best practices, particularly regarding Indonesia’s establishment of a National Collective Management Organization (CMO).
Armizan took the opportunity to explore Indonesia’s CMO management framework, aiming to adopt similar best practices in Malaysia. Additionally, MyIPO is working to improve its Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (MyTKDL) and expressed interest in exchanging data management insights with DGIP Indonesia.
Both parties are currently negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize cooperative programs between the two intellectual property offices.
Expressing gratitude to Dr. Supratman and his delegation, Armizan voiced optimism that the visit would further strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral ties and foster deeper collaboration across various sectors.
