MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR, June 19, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the 38th Asia-Pacific Roundtable, organized by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS), this morning.

In his address, Anwar highlighted the global landscape on the brink of significant change, marked by tensions among major powers, humanitarian crises, and climate and technological challenges that demand bold, principled leadership. “Malaysia will not remain a passive observer but will instead choose to be an agent of change for a fair, safe, and sustainable future,” he affirmed.
As ASEAN Chair, Malaysia is adopting a progressive approach that strengthens ASEAN principles through digital economic integration, renewable energy, and open trade, forming the foundation for regional security. Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to “active non-alignment,” a sovereign strategy that ensures dignity and flexibility. “We collaborate with all, including the United States, China, the European Union, India, and Global South nations, based on mutual respect and shared interests. A stable world cannot be built on unilateral coercion,” he stated.
Addressing pressing global issues, Anwar emphasized the need for collective action on the crises in Gaza and Myanmar. Malaysia remains committed to a people-owned peace process in Myanmar and firmly demands a ceasefire and humanitarian access in Gaza.
Under the Malaysia MADANI framework, Anwar pledged to continue advocating for truth with principles, wisdom, and courage, aiming for a world that is more just, dignified, and rooted in humanitarian values.
