PUTRAJAYA, May 27, 2025 — The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has imposed a ban on seven publications deemed potentially harmful to public order and morality under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 [Act 301].
The prohibition orders, effective April 15-17, 2025, were gazetted to curb the spread of ideologies and content that could disrupt public safety and societal harmony.







The banned titles include:
- Love, Theoretically”** by Ali Hazelwood, banned on April 15, 2025, for potentially harming morality [P.U.(A) 120].
- “Tuan Ziyad: Forbidden Love”** by Bellesa, banned on April 16, 2025, for similar reasons [P.U.(A) 122].
- “Darlingku Mr. Cold Mafia”** by Nur Firsha Nadia binti Mohd Noor Kusairi (ShaDhia), banned on April 16, 2025 [P.U.(A) 123].
- “Mischievous Killer”** by Aira Syuhairah Noradzan (Ariaseva), banned on April 16, 2025 [P.U.(A) 124].
- “Suhuf Abraham”**, banned on April 17, 2025, for potentially threatening public order [P.U.(A) 125].
- “Kougar 2″** by Shaz Johar, banned on April 17, 2025, for morality concerns [P.U.(A) 127].
- “The American Roommate Experiment”** by Elena Armas, banned on April 17, 2025 [P.U.(A) 128].
According to the ministry, these prohibition orders are preventive measures to safeguard public safety and morality. Under Section 7(1) of Act 301, the printing, importation, production, reproduction, publication, sale, issuance, circulation, distribution, or possession of these publications is strictly prohibited in Malaysia.
Violators face severe penalties. Possession of banned materials without reasonable cause is punishable by a fine of up to RM5,000 under Section 8(1). Other offenses, such as printing, importing, or distributing these materials, carry a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both under Section 8(2).
The government reiterated its commitment to regulating printing and publications to prevent the spread of disruptive ideologies.
