Madani Government Commits to Resolving MyKad Technical Issues for Smooth Targeted Subsidy Distribution

PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA Oct 19, 2025 – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has taken note of reports regarding the misuse of MyKad by irresponsible parties to redeem targeted subsidy assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) program.

“I assure that SARA is the right of the people, and the government will not allow any eligible recipient to be disadvantaged due to technical issues or identity misuse. If MyKad misuse occurs, the remaining SARA contribution balance will be refunded to the affected recipient after verification through investigation,” said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in a media statement issued today.

He explained that MyKad holders affected by such incidents should immediately file a police report, after which the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the National Registration Department (JPN) will conduct a thorough follow-up investigation to identify the root cause and ensure the restoration of recipients’ rights.

In this regard, KDN through JPN and MOF is currently collaborating closely to resolve technical issues related to MyKad verification and security, ensuring that the next round of targeted subsidy distribution proceeds without any disruptions. Among the ongoing improvement measures include periodic MyKad data matching, card version reviews to prevent redemption misuse, and enhancements to JPN’s digital infrastructure security.

The Madani Government is committed to ensuring the implementation of targeted subsidies is carried out transparently, securely, and fairly. KDN, together with MOF, continues to enhance identity verification systems and data security so that every sen of assistance reaches the eligible people—without disruption, without diversion, and without loss of rights.
