SANDAKAN, July 1, 2025 – Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm and professional reception extended to her and her delegation during a working visit to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDNM) Sandakan branch today. The visit, aimed at strengthening ties between the Ministry of Finance and LHDNM, underscored the agency’s critical role in achieving national revenue targets to drive economic development.
Lim praised the exemplary teamwork and dedication of LHDNM Sandakan staff, particularly highlighting their success in surpassing revenue goals. As of May 31, 2025, LHDNM Sabah recorded a revenue collection of RM2.229 billion, exceeding the target of RM2.150 billion by 103.70%.
“Congratulations to the Hasilian Sabah team for this remarkable achievement,” she said, commending their commitment to effective tax compliance and robust tax system integrity.
Accompanied by Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong, Lim emphasized LHDNM’s pivotal role in funding national development and public welfare programs.
“Every cent collected is invaluable and has a significant impact on the nation’s progress,” she noted, urging the agency to continue enhancing efficiency and innovation in their daily operations.
The visit provided Lim with insights into LHDNM Sandakan’s operations and challenges, as well as opportunities to better understand Sabah’s revenue collection potential and enforcement needs. She also applauded the branch’s efforts in combating tax evasion, reinforcing the importance of integrity in maintaining public trust.
“Without strong integrity, confidence in our agency will erode. Let us uphold high ethical standards and reject corruption and abuse of power,” she stressed.
Lim extended her appreciation to LHDNM Sabah State Operations Director Naharuddin Nurdin and the Sandakan team for their hospitality and outstanding performance.
