KUSKOP CONSTRUCTS FOUR RURAL MARKET PREMISES WORTH RM790,550 IN PENAMPANG – EWON

PENAMPANG, SABAH, Malaysia August 6, 2025 – The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) has constructed and upgraded four Tamu Desa premises in the Penampang area, with a total value of RM790,550, completed last year.

Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the projects involved new constructions for Tamu Desa in Kampung Inobong, Kampung Babagon, and Kampung Togudon, as well as an upgrade for Tamu Desa in Kampung Mahandoi.

“These projects were implemented using federal government allocations through KUSKOP as an effort to further stimulate rural economic development and empower rural entrepreneurs.

“With these premises, tamu entrepreneurs can conduct their businesses in a more comfortable and organised manner, while visitors will also feel more at ease, no longer exposed to the sun and rain,” he said.

He made these remarks while officiating the new Tamu Desa building in Kampung Togudon—one of the completed projects from last year—here today.

The Tamu Desa premises will serve as the main location for weekly village market activities held every Saturday. However, Ewon encouraged farmers to sell their produce daily to boost local economic growth.

“I urge agricultural entrepreneurs to use these premises to sell their farm products every day, not just on market days. This can provide them with consistent income growth,” he said.

At the same event, Ewon presented a registration certificate to the newly established Koperasi Desa Togudon Berhad, as an initiative to strengthen the village’s economic structure collectively and sustainably.

“Hopefully, the establishment of this cooperative can drive community activities in the village, particularly in the agriculture and tourism sectors. We want cooperatives to become catalysts for village economic development,” he added.

Overall, KUSKOP constructed 98 Tamu Desa premises in Sabah and Sarawak last year, with new constructions set to continue in both states this year.
