The event showcased a variety of categories, ranging from traditional kampung durians to the highly sought-after Musang King and Black Thorn varieties, each boasting unique flavors and textures.

“Alhamdulillah, I am honored to be here to launch this competition, which highlights the diversity and quality of Kulim’s durians,” said Saifuddin, emphasizing the area’s growing reputation in the fruit industry.

The minister extended his congratulations to all participants, organizers, industry stakeholders, and passionate “durian fans” who turned out for the occasion. He encouraged those who didn’t win to remain resilient, noting, “For those who didn’t take the crown this season, don’t lose heart—perhaps it wasn’t your rezeki this time. As long as there are durian trees, there’s hope to be a champion!” His lighthearted remark drew laughter and applause from the crowd.

The competition not only promotes local agriculture but also boosts community spirit and tourism in Kulim. With Malaysia’s durian industry contributing significantly to its agricultural economy—exporting over 300,000 metric tons annually, valued at RM10 billion according to the Department of Agriculture—the event underscores the potential for Kulim to emerge as a key player.
