Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry, delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the forum’s role in fostering economic collaboration under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme, “Inclusivity and Sustainability.” The event, held alongside the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, marks a milestone in uniting three economic powerhouses—ASEAN, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and China.

“This historic confluence of dynamic economies underscores our commitment to peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth,” Zafrul said, addressing dignitaries, including Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and China’s Premier Li Qiang.

Representing a combined GDP of USD24 trillion—roughly 23% of global GDP—and over a third of the world’s population, the three regions aim to deepen ties in trade, investment, energy transition, digital innovation, and sustainable development. Zafrul highlighted the forum as a platform for translating political goodwill into tangible outcomes for businesses, SMEs, and communities while safeguarding the environment.

The presence of Fortune 500 CEOs and global investors signaled robust multilateral cooperation, with discussions expected to unlock new opportunities and promote resilient, rules-based economic integration.

Zafrul closed his remarks with a warm “Selamat Datang” to guests, expressing hope that the forum would pave the way for shared prosperity. “May our engagements contribute impactfully to our collective future,” he said.
