RANAU, SABAH. Malaysia, July 26 2025 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is set to host the Karnival KPDN and the Beli Barangan Malaysia Campaign (KBBM) Series 2 for 2025 in Sabah from July 25 to 27. Held in Ranau, the three-day event aims to attract 60,000 visitors and bring government services closer to grassroots communities, particularly those under KPDN’s purview.

Themed “Jom Beli Lokal,” the carnival serves as a platform to promote the KBBM 2025, encouraging support for local products and strengthening the domestic economy. The initiative is a strategic move to bolster economic growth while supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by expanding their market reach. It also highlights the quality of local products, aiming to reduce reliance on imported goods.
Additional Funding for Rahmah MADANI Initiatives
KPDN welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 23, 2025, allocating an additional RM300 million for the Program Jualan Rahmah MADANI (PJRM). This funding will enable KPDN to increase the frequency of PJRM events nationwide, targeting 20,000 sessions in 2025. In Sabah alone, KPDN plans to conduct 2,276 PJRM sessions this year, with 1,089 already completed between January 1 and July 26, 2025.
Expansion of Sumbangan Asas RAHMAH (SARA)
KPDN also applauded the government’s decision to increase funding for the Sumbangan Tunai RAHMAH (STR) and Sumbangan Asas RAHMAH (SARA) programs from RM13 billion to RM15 billion for 2025. The additional RM2 billion will provide a one-off RM100 SARA payment to all Malaysians aged 18 and above.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, KPDN is working to expand access to SARA, allowing recipients to purchase essential goods at 4,152 supermarkets and retail stores nationwide, including 470 in Sabah. KPDN has proposed extending SARA usage to mobile PJRM events, enabling recipients, especially in rural and remote areas, to use their MyKad-linked SARA funds at these locations.
As of July 2025, Sabah has disbursed RM410 million to 830,000 STR recipients and RM500 million to 506,000 SARA recipients.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting local businesses and ensuring the well-being of Malaysians by making essential goods more accessible,” said Datuk Armizan bin Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, during the announcement in Ranau on July 26, 2025.
The Karnival KPDN and expanded Rahmah programs underscore KPDN’s efforts to empower local economies and improve access to essential goods across Malaysia.
