KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA February 1, 2026 – The Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) Strike Force, in collaboration with multiple enforcement agencies, conducted a major integrated operation that resulted in the immediate closure of four business premises operated by foreign nationals.
The Operasi Bersepadu Gasak ‘KL Strike Force’ Siri 1 Tahun 2026 took place on Thursday, 29 January 2026, around Jalan Taman Seri Sentosa, Seputeh. The joint operation involved Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia (JIM), Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup (KPDN), Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM), and Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM).
The multi-agency team inspected business premises for various violations, including operations by foreigners without proper authorization, unlicensed premises, public walkway obstructions, hygiene issues, food handler typhoid injections, controlled goods sales, use of weighing and measuring instruments, untaxed or excise-duty unpaid items, failure to produce travel documents or work permits, unregistered companies, and other general offences.
Key enforcement outcomes included:
– DBKL immediately sealed four premises run by foreign operators. One premise faced seizure and removal of public walkway obstructions. Authorities issued 21 compound notices for offences such as unlicensed businesses, foreign-operated premises, and employing non-citizens without permission. Actions were taken under the Undang-Undang Kecil Perlesenan Tred, Perniagaan dan Perindustrian (WPKL), Undang-Undang Kecil Pelesenan Penjaja (WPKL) 2016, Akta Kerajaan Tempatan 1976, and Akta Jalan Parit dan Bangunan 1974.
– JIM arrested and screened 20 foreign nationals (16 men and 4 women), all Indonesian citizens, for misusing work permits and overstaying. They were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Headquarters for further documentation and processing.
– KPDN issued 3 compound notices related to price marking and weighing/measuring instrument violations under the Peraturan Kawalan Harga dan Antipencatutan (Penandaan Harga Bagi Barangan dan Caj Bagi Perkhidmatan) 2020 and Akta Timbang dan Sukat 1972, totaling RM1,500.
– JKDM issued 2 notices for unpaid customs duties and taxes, seizing various units of alcoholic beverages (beer and liquor) under the Akta Kastam 1967. The total value of unpaid duties and taxes amounted to RM30,570.00.
– SSM issued 11 compound notices after inspecting 22 premises for failures such as not registering businesses, not displaying registration certificates, not displaying business name boards and registration numbers, and not recording business names and registration numbers on official receipts. These were under the Kaedah-Kaedah Pendaftaran Perniagaan 1957, Akta Pendaftaran Perniagaan 1956, and Akta Syarikat 2016.
Seized goods and business equipment were transferred to DBKL’s seizure storage for further action and documentation.
DBKL stated that such integrated enforcement operations will continue periodically to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
