KENINGAU, 14 July 2025 – Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching attended the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS) at SK Pasir Puteh, Keningau, Sabah, marking a significant step in promoting digital safety among young students.

Organized by the Ministry of Communications through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the campaign saw 120 students from Years 1 to 3 participate. SK Pasir Puteh is the first primary school in Keningau to implement a specialized module designed for children aged 7 to 9.
The module aims to enhance understanding of general internet use, application functions, and online risks and threats. Students were also informed about the minimum age requirement of 13 for owning social media accounts.
The campaign highlighted the dangers of uncontrolled internet use and encouraged positive alternative activities. It seeks to foster digital literacy, raise awareness of cyberbullying and online grooming, and teach students how to use the internet safely and responsibly.
The initiative is expected to emphasize online safety, promote early awareness, and cultivate a culture of positive, secure, and responsible internet use among schoolchildren.
