Johor Bahru – The Johor State Education Department (JPN) once again made history by breaking the national record with the organisation of a historic carnival involving the largest number of special needs students in a single event.

The National Special Education Needs Students Employability Carnival 2025, held from September 26th to 28th, 2025, at Toppen Shopping Centre, attracted a total of 5489 participants, making this event recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the “Largest Special Needs Turnout in a Carnival”.

The official certificate of recognition was presented by the official representative of MBOR, Puan Siti Hajar Johor, to the Director of Education of JPN Johor, Tn Hj Mohd Hanafi Samad, along with the Director of the Teacher Professionalism Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Puan Rohayati Abd Hamed. This certificate marks a proud achievement in efforts to empower the employability of MBPK in this country.

The Director of the Teacher Professionalism Division of the Ministry of Education stated that this success is not just a numerical achievement, but also a symbol of support, appreciation, and inclusion for students with special educational needs.

“This is proof that with solid support from all parties, namely teachers, parents, the community, and the government, students with special educational needs are certainly capable of excelling and being given ample opportunity to contribute to society,” he said.

This carnival was also enlivened by various activities such as performances by local artists, competitions, exhibitions of creative works, community programs, innovation exhibitions, school product sales, and interactive booths from agencies and organisations that support special education.

The active participation of students from various states in this event signifies the country’s commitment to instilling the values of inclusivity and appreciating individual abilities regardless of background or capability.
